With a substantial history of being immersed in the gallery world in New York, Boston and San Francisco, Jeremy’s knowledge of the art market is first hand and not theoretical. Stone’s foundation in art history, particularly modern and contemporary art derives from early work experience at a major New York gallery, and internships at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston and the Commonwealth Cultural Preservation Trust, Boston.

Stone founded and directed a contemporary and modern art gallery in San Francisco at the age of 24. After curating over 80 exhibitions, Stone expanded her work in the art field, in 1991, to include appraising artist estates and curating shows for Nestle Beverage Company’s corporate headquarters in San Francisco. While serving as director of Career Services and visiting faculty at the San Francisco Art Institute from 1994 – 1998, Stone received her first expert opinion call from an attorney. In 1996, after being called repeatedly to testify as an expert witness in legal cases involving artists and their work she began the process of becoming an accredited appraiser of fine art with the American Society of Appraisers. She has worked with attorneys on cases involving works of art in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Florida, New York, Washington, California, and for the government of Canada.

Stone’s area of expertise is post-war and 20th century American and European art and the dynamics of the auction, gallery and museum world. Gifting, charitable contribution, artist’s estates, sales advice, insurance and strategic planning for large art collections (over 800 works) are among the services she offers. She has written charitable contribution appraisal reports for works of art donated to The Whitney Museum of American Art, Yale University Art Gallery, The Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University, The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Cantor Center for the Visual Arts, University Art Museum, Berkeley, San Jose Museum of Art, Portland Art Museum, and numerous other fine museums and educational institutions across the country. Jeremy has been a member of ArtTable, a national organization for women in leadership positions in the visual arts, since 1986.

In October 2008 she was presented with the ArtTable Annual Award for Service in the Visual Arts by the Northern California Chapter. She has served on the board of trustees of the Oxbow School, Napa, CA and the San Francisco Art Institute. She has participated in numerous panels and lectured at universities, colleges, professional organizations and museums on appraising and the professional practices of the art world.
