Five celebrated Canadian artists, oil painters, handle their paint as concert violinists handle their violins. The technique of each is unique. Before the formation of the Collective, the artists had individually developed their skill over years of professional work and exhibitions. It was their affinities that brought them together. All five painters have dedicated themselves to observing the continuing and evolving relationship they have with their environment. Each observation is personal, while still being acute and representational, with a documentary approach and vision. They are carrying on the cool objective Canadian approach, a tradition of excellence that we find in research, photography and documentary films. The members of the collective have exhibited extensively in Canada and the US and their work can be found in numerous private, corporate and public collections.
