After The Orgies: Bill Beckley, The Eighties

A fundamental member of the ‘70s SoHo art scene, Bill Beckley’s work provides a crucial glimpse into one of the key New York art movements of the 20th century. In his second solo exhibition at the gallery, this presentation will take up from where his 2015 exhibition left off in 1978. Covering the 1980's, a period of experimentation and introspection for Beckley, After The Orgies will feature a number of works exhibited publicly for the first time.

The ‘80s marks the first time the artist delved into painting on canvas and incorporated elements of texture, sound and monumental scale into his work. The exhibition will reflect Beckley’s departure from Narrative Art with a number of immersive and emotive works such as Front Porch (1987) and Score Card (1984).
