HUGH MARTIN: Studio Window - New Photographs

“My photographs of France belong within the tradition of street photography. I don’t have a studio there…there’s no need for one. Or rather my studio is ephemeral, it travels with me, with an amazing 360 degree window, and perception is immediate.

Closer to home, in these interior spaces most familiar, I observe a different sort of relationship whereby the larger world enters through windows in the form of light, shadow, reflection, and beautiful ambiguity." -Hugh Martin
